Mica McNutt named Pretty Peggy Pepper

Mica McNutt, who served as Pretty Peggy Pepper in 2002, has been chosen to represent Dublin Dr Pepper again in 2004. The announcement was made Saturday as a highlight of the 113th birthday celebration of the oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant in the world.

The appointment of the plant’s goodwill ambassador marks a change in tradition. For the past several years, Pretty Peggy Pepper was chosen by out-of-town judges at the conclusion of a pageant which included interview, sportswear and evening gown competition. The increased media exposure has created more demands on the young lady who represents the plant and made it necessary to treat the position like a job.

Miss McNutt, the daughter of Gary and Sharon McNutt of Dublin, is a Tarleton State University student. She will participate in parades, area festivals, various Dr Pepper meetings and conventions and frequently greet visitors to Old Doc’s Soda Shop at the bottling plant.

Dublin Dr Pepper birthday carnival
raises $2400 for charity

For the second consecutive year, the Boys and Girls Club of Wichita Falls raised more money than all other midway booths and games at the 113th birthday celebration of Dublin Dr Pepper Bottling Co. on June 12.

The group raised $351.75 for their bounce house. That amount will be matched by Dublin Dr Pepper, which also added to the income of any group whose proceeds did not reach $100. The midway games were provided by Dr Pepper for non-profit or charity groups to use as fund raisers. This year the grand total of money raised for charities was $2,400.

The second busiest booth was the duck pond, sponsored by the Dublin Academic Booster Club, which collected $263.25 in tickets. The booth was manned by the Texas Bank of Dublin.

Other groups and their activities: milk cow, hosted by Tri-County AgriBusiness Association with proceeds going to the Dairy Legal Fund; dunkin’ booth and darts and balloons with proceeds benefiting Boy Scout Troop 30 of Dublin; roping game with proceeds benefiting TREAT; fairy floss (cotton candy) with proceeds benefiting the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, and hi-low striker benefiting the Dublin FFA;

Also, milk can game hosted by Venturing Crew 67 of Comanche; giant bowling hosted by Dublin Junior FFA; wacky trikes with proceeds going to Dublin Seniors of 2005; baseball toss hosted by Dublin 4-H and hacky sac game hosted by Friends of the Stephenville Library;

Also, sand boxes hosted by Kappa Delta Chi; balloon sales by Girl Scouts; candy sales by STAR Council, tic-tac-toe hosted by Habitat for Humanity, and face painting, hosted by Girl Scouts.

The Segway Human Transporter donated proceeds to the American Cancer Society.

The Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council raised $278.25 in proceeds from the art contest.

The Goodtimes Chorus, a Barbershop Quartet singing group from Arlington, donated its fee to Cook Children’s Hospital.
