This June the oldest soft drink bottling plant in the world celebrate its 116th Birthday. And Dublin Dr Pepper wants you to help us celebrate. Festivities officially begin on Monday June 4 when for one week the Dublin city limit signs are changed to Dr Pepper, Texas.
But early Saturday June 9 is when the real fun begins starting with the 10-2-4k runs. No matter what level runner you are, we’ve got the run for you! The 10-2-4k is a charity run with all proceeds going to the local Lions Club.
After the run award ceremonies, there will be plenty of entertainment to fill the rest of the day. This year’s birthday theme is “World Records” and the world’s oldest soft drink bottling plant will be the scene for several world record attempts.
Meet the Texas Snakeman, Jackie Bibby, and be here when he attempts to break one of his four current Guinness World Records. Bibby will also attempt a new world record never before attempted.
Step up to test your mettle in the Dublin Dr Pepper Birthday Cake eating contest. 5 pounds of Dublin Dr Pepper cake is all that stands between you and fame.
Listen...and play along… throughout the day to the Dublin D.P. house band “10 to 4”. Layne Golden and the band will quiz you while they serenade you with songs that made history. The best, the worst, longest at number one and biggest selling will bring back a memory for everyone.
Let the kids run away to join the circus...and go with them! The Backyard Circus - the worlds smallest circus that doesn’t include fleas - is back again this year to delight children of every age!
In addition to being recognized as the oldest soft drink bottling plant in the world, the Dublin plant is the home of the world’s largest Dr Pepper “Can”, a self contained soft drink bar capable of serving 3600 people an hour.
Visitors will be treated to free Dublin Dr Pepper and free tours of the bottling plant and museum all day long. And of course, everyone will also be invited to share in Dublin Dr Pepper's huge 116th birthday cake.
The annual birthday party, which began in 1991 when the plant observed its 100th birthday, is a “thank you” celebration from the Dublin Dr Pepper Bottling Co. and parent company Dr Pepper-Seven Up to their customers. All proceeds from the birthday celebration benefit local and area non-profit and charitable organizations.
