Dr Pepper Texas --The contracts are signed and Dublin Dr Pepper can reveal the entertainment lineup for this year's "Mardi Gras in June".
The 114th birthday celebration promises to be our best yet if music is the measuring stick. The musical fun begins Friday night with music from “Layne Golden’s Blues Band”. Layne has played on the Grand Ole Opry and with Doug Kershaw and Johnny Lee.
Joining Layne will be Randy Turner on keyboards and Barbara Graham on bass. Randy is a published song writer and worship leader at McKinney Bible Church. Barbara is ranked one of the top 100 bass guitarists by D magazine.
Saturday the trio double their number and switch over to zydeco to become "Tirer Une Vache" (cajun for “to milk a cow”). Joining them will be drummer Al Hyde, percussionist Anna Williams and Dale Morris on fiddle. (If you’re gonna play in Texas you gotta have a fiddle in the band!)
Dale has played with the likes of Marty Stewart and Ricky Skaggs and is a regular on the Grand Ole Opry. Anna is one of the top percussionists in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Al is much sought after for his drumming skills in New Orleans, where he calls home.
This will be the only Texas appearance this year for "Tirer Une Vache", right here in Dr Pepper Texas! You can't have a Mardi Gras without real Louisiana cajun music. This what we be talkin' 'bout!!!
Returning for the 4th straight year is the incredible BACKYARD CIRCUS. Where else can your kids be a part of a wonderful circus, taming wild animals, being fired out of a cannon and walking the tightrope? The Backyard Circus invites you and your family to return to the days before TV...when boys and girls made up their own fun in their own backyard. Costumes drop right over kid's clothes, and all are welcome to join in this nostalgic exercise of pure imagination.
